THE REFORM of the Barbados Drug Service (BDS), which began in April last year, has resulted in a near-halving of Government’s spending.

This revelation has come from Minister of Health Donville Inniss, who has put the savings on the service at about 40 per cent when compared with the previous years’ expenditure.

He told the DAILY NATION that this was important and relevant at a time when there have been calls for reductions in Government spending and for other measures aimed at bringing down costs.

“I believe in looking to see where we can contain the spiralling costs and reducing where necessary [the cost of] supplies, as long as we do not compromise the care currently being provided to citizens,” he said.
