ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA– GIS: The Ministry of Health has received a $50,000.00 monetary donation from Scotiabank Grenada, to be used at the General Hospital’s laundry unit and children’s ward.

The gift was presented to Health and Social Security Minister – Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen, by the Bank’s Country Manage,r Mr. Elie Bendaly, at Scotia’s 50th Anniversary gala dinner and Awards held recently.

$35,000 will go towards the purchase and installation of equipment; and repairs of laundry unit, while the remaining $15,000 will be used for equipment and medication for the children ward.

The donation was as a result of a request for assistance made by Dr. Modeste-Curwen on assuming office. A few weeks later the bank responded and informed the Minister and Ministry, that they are committed to playing their part in the country’s development as a corporate entity, especially as it relates to healthcare.

The Ministry regards Scotia’s contribution as exceptional and believes that such a private public partnership (PP) can and will bring immense benefits to the people of Grenada.

Scotiabank has undertaken health related projects at the children’s ward at the General Hospital, and Ministry’s Infectious Disease Control Unit especially as it relates to HIV and AIDS, through the annual Regional Testing Day initiative which began some five years ago.
