Two new appointments have been made by the state-owned BVI Health Service Authority (BVIHSA).

Franka Potter is now the Marketing Communications Manager, effectively replacing Tamara Archibald Gill who recently left the Authority under undisclosed circumstances.

Potter took up her appointment on November 4.

The other appointment is that of Noriece Margaret Price as the Training and Development/Instructional Designer.

Her appointment took effect on October 22.

The Health Services Authority, in separate statements to the press on Sunday, outlined the backgrounds and roles of both new appointees.

Franka Potter

As Marketing Communications Manager, Potter will “create and manage cross-organisational, integrated and marketing strategies for the Health Services Authority”.

She will also coordinate projects with vendors and stakeholders “for the development and production of educational events and promotional materials to heighten public awareness of services offered by the BVIHSA”.

Potter has a second Master’s Degree in Film and Moving Image Production from Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Information and Library Science from the University of Wales, and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Development from Binghamton University in the US.

Before joining the BVIHSA, Potter was Senior Administrative Officer in the Deputy Governor’s Office from 2011-2013. She also held the positions of Acting Chief Information Officer, as well as Deputy Chief Information Officer in the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Potter, in 2008, completed a graduate internship with the Documentary Unit at Cable News Network (CNN) in Georgia, and from 2001 to 2007 she served as Senior Librarian at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

She also hosted radio and television programmes locally.

Noriece Margaret Price

As the new Training and Development/Instructional Designer, Price will “develop and facilitate a variety of training opportunities for BVIHSA managers, with responsibilities for determining organisational performance, development, needs and services”.

She will also “organise and develop training manuals, a reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multi-media visual aids and other educational materials for the Health Services Authority”.

Price joined the Authority from the University of Miami in Florida, where she held the positions of Instructional Designer and Human Resources, as well as Faculty Affairs Generalist. Additionally, she was the seasonal Adjunct Professor at Barry University in Miami in 2009.

Price is completing her Ph.D in Human Resources Development, with a concentration in Leadership and Education from Barry University. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University in 2003.

According to the Health Services Authority, “Price has an extensive background in training upper and middle management within organisations such as hospitals, academic institutions and hotels”.

Her background in training extends itself over 15 years.
