DOH Offers Health Advisory and Advice on Handling the Flu in USVI

A Press release from the US Department of Health (DOH) was issued to the USVI in the handling of the flu.

According to the press release, influenza, commonly known as the flu, can be potentially fatal where there are complications and the USVI is asking its residents to get the flu shot. This was outlined in a release issued by the Virgin Islands government.

According to the release anyone can get the flu and the flu shot is an important first step.

They indicated the following steps ought to be taken to prevent the flu. People should continue to practice good hygiene and the flu shot ought to be given to young children (under five years and more especially under two years old), pregnant women and those with chronic diseases.

According to the release, people with chronic health issues like diabetes, asthma, heart and/or lung disease and people over the age of sixty-five should also get the flu shot immediately to reduce the likelihood of contracting the flu.
