Barbadian-designed Medirevu app gets global look

MediRevu, the brainchild of three young Barbadians, recently scored another success when it was shortlisted by the World Entrepreneurship Forum as one of five finalists to pitch to its CrowdDen VC panel in Lyon, France on October 21.
MediRevu is an app that helps patients suffering from non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and obesity – and their doctors – to keep track of appointments, treatments and patients’ health conditions.
The app, co-founded by Shannon Clarke, Lybron Sobers and Samora Reid, also took the top prize in the Expert Developers category at Digital Jam 3.0 in Jamaica in March this year.
Having been accepted into the Oasis500’s business acceleration programme, since the start of August, Clarke and Sobers have been in Amman, Jordan. They have been focused on taking MediRevu to the next stage of its development and networking with other startups, as well as potential investors; while Reid pursues studies in Health Information Systems Management in London, UK.
The trip to Lyon last month saw Clarke presenting the project for crowd-funding before a six-member panel of well-known names in the angel investment world.

“What’s very interesting is that we were the youngest startup selected alongside four other ambitious startups – NovaNano, Imona Cloud, IzzyBike and Numoni – with amazing track records and awards under their belt,” Clarke told Loop News.
“It meant that we were going on the world stage a lot sooner than expected. To say that we were nervous was an understatement – but who would ever turn down the opportunity to travel to France?”
In the end, it was NovaNano that won the coveted prize, but Clarke counts the experience as valuable nonetheless.
From Barbados to Jamaica, to Jordan, to France, Clarke told Loop News that so far it has been “an amazing start for us at MediRevu to be introduced on the world stage from little Barbados in the Caribbean.”
