The Benefits of Whole foods and Juicing

It is important to know that many benefits can be derived from freshly juiced fruits and vegetables. Over the years many people have benefited both physically and psychologically from these God-given plant based foods. Such food sources are highly recommended because they carry a very complex set of nutrients called phytochemicals (plant-based nutrients).
Indeed, in recent times the supplement industry has been booming. These manufacturers promote a wide range of products with claims of them being able to meet all of the nutritional needs of the human body. While some benefits are derived through supplementation, whole food sources have been proven to yield much greater benefits synergistically in promoting great health.
Researchers have only managed to isolate a very small fraction of these phytochemicals in the laboratory, but over a thousand of these phytochemicals were identified in different foods we eat. Indeed, many of these chemicals have been scientifically proven to fight various diseases and other ailments.
For example: soy products, yams and nuts are defined as ‘Isoflavones’- these are proven to help cognitive function and help ease menopausal symptoms. Another vital set of phytochemicals are Sulfur compounds and though many may not like them, onions and garlic have extremely beneficial properties. Some benefits include: lowering blood pressure, improving immune function and lowers cholesterol.
Though it is great to consume whole fruits and vegetables in order intake the fibrous roughage, it may not be possible to eat so much. The reality is that some people have a very sluggish digestive system and even fruits and vegetables may be hard to digest. This is where fresh juices come into play. When the fresh juices from fruits and vegetables are consumed, nutrients are more ‘bioavailable’ to the cells. Putting is in simpler terms, it means that most of the nutrients are retained in the juice.
In the end, when juices are consumed regularly throughout the year, one would be able to significantly reduce the risk of disease or infection to a large degree. They should be taken early morning on empty stomach. Though the cleanup process after juicing may be taxing, you’ll soon realise that it pays dividends to ‘go green’.
