HCC Launches New Partnership with IFRC

On December 1, 2015 the HCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The HCC is committed to the regional cooperation in CNCDs and welcomes our newest partner IFRC and look forward to a mutually rewarding partnership. The focus of the partnership over the next three years will be to work collaboratively on identified priority areas and actions, including strengthening advocacy, capacity building, enhancing communication and other participatory strategies. The IFRC is pleased to be engaged in this partnership with the HCC.
The organisation’s leadership view this as a positive move towards strengthening the Caribbean`s response to NCDs in a manner that places strategic emphasis on the role of Caribbean Civil Society Organisations. Dr. Lorraine Mwangwiro, IFRC Regional Representative for the Caribbean remarked, ‘The IFRC looks forward to a fruitful collaboration and is confident it will add value to the Region by leveraging the strengths of each organization’.
Dr. Victor Coombs, Member of the Board of Directors of the HCC represented the HCC at the signing ceremony. Dr. Coombs has been leading on this collaboration since inception and was pleased to see the formalisation of the relationship. ‘The HCC is keen to build partnerships with regional NGOs around NCDs, leveraging our respective strengths and expanding our reach across diverse communities in order to achieve real impact in NCD prevention and control’.
