MSJMC receives supplies from Mayo Clinic

The Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) has received a 40-foot container of donated medical supplies from the Mayo Clinic Rochester Medical Missions Group, in Rochester Minnesota.

The donation, valued at US $128,000, was made possible by George Bahri, who made the request from Mayo Clinic. Bahri, an Antiguan, explained that the donation came about through his familiarity with the clinic.

“Our family has been going to the Mayo Clinic whenever we need major medical attention, if it is not available here. During these visits, I use the opportunity to try to persuade them to help us with much needed supplies. Over time, I managed to work with them”, Bahri stated.

The donation is the third that Bahri has organized from the Mayo Clinic, the first two having been made to Holberton Hospital when it was Antigua & Barbuda’s primary public hospital.

Bahri and his wife Sandra attended the handing over ceremony at the MSJMC on February 9. They were greeted by the Minister of Health, Molwyn Joseph, who described Bahri as, “an outstanding citizen” and thanked him for his patronage.(Antigua Observer)
