Schneider Regional Medical Center CEO Bernard A. Wheatley has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2016 list of 50 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know.
Published by the leading magazine for hospital business news, the article acknowledges that although massive healthcare systems like Mayo Clinic or Johns Hopkins may be household names, many Americans live in small, rural communities and rely on lesser-known hospitals for high-quality healthcare. The list features some of the most impressive leaders dedicated to advancing healthcare in small towns and communities.

The JCAHO accredited Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is a healthcare system comprised of three facilities operating with one vision: “To be the health care provider of choice to the residents of the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean.” It is the only acute care facility in the St. Thomas / St. John district of the U.S. Virgin Islands and consists of the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital, Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center and the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute.
