Seven Pregnant Women Confirmed With Zika, 150 Others Suspected To Have Virus

The Health Ministry is reporting that the number of pregnant women affected by the Zika virus is now at seven, up from the four recorded last week.

This was disclosed by Chief Medical Officer Dr Winston De La Haye on Independent Talk on Power 106 FM.

He says four of the seven cases involve women who are in their second trimester.

Meanwhile, the number of suspected Zika cases in pregnant women has risen to 150.

This is 70 more cases since last week when the number stood at 88.

De La Haye says once a pregnant woman shows one of the Zika-related symptoms, she is suspected of having the virus and is referred to a high risk clinic. (Jamaican Gleaner)
