Dominica: Another accolade for Justin Fadipe Medical Centre

The Justin Fadipe Medical Centre has again received international recognition for excellence in the field of healthcare.

The institution has been nominated by the Europe-based Socrates Committee for the ‘Best Hospital’ international award, in recognition of their “excellent reputation, safe and effective treatment methods, highly professional medical staff, and modern equipment.”

The International Socrates Committee is a counsel which represents leaders within the business, education and science international communities. The committee has worked to establish European Business Association (EBA) Awards, as well respected international accolades.
Proprietor of the Centre, Dr. Basil Fadipe, in an interview with Dominica News Online, commented that the nomination is a tribute to hard work, and said that he is proud to have been nominated.

“I feel very happy, I feel like my work is not going in vain. It’s not all the time that work is measured by money; work can be measured by recognition,” he elaborated. “I feel extremely proud that a small hospital like mine, in a remote place like Cuba Road [Mero], is being recognized.”

Fadipe stated that gaining international recognition encourages him and his staff to maintain a high standard of operation.

“It means that we need to keep working hard. Somebody is watching all the time, so we need to keep working. International organizations are keeping an eye on us, and that’s encouraging,” he explained. “We need to keep maintaining the standard that is attracting all these international organizations to give us recognition.”

The winners will be presented on October 7, 2016, at the Intercontinental Carlton Hotel, Cannes, France, during the European Awards Night in the framework of the Excellence in Quality and Management Forum.

The Justin Fadipe Medical Center, named after the proprietor’s father, is both a Clinical and Academic center, and has been in existence since 2001.

In 2013, the Justin Fadipe Medical Centre was selected by the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) to receive the “Quality Achievement Award” for work done in the local health sector.
