Only two patients on Gordon Ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital “remain symptomatic for gastroenteritis” a hospital spokeswoman said last night.

At last check, no new cases were reported for patients or staff within the past 24 hours.

The spokeswoman said access to the ward will continue to be restricted “until there has been 96 hours (two incubation periods) with no new cases reported”.

However, the admitting and transfer restrictions have resulted in longer waits in Emergency, “as the number of available inpatient beds at the hospital has been reduced”.

“Bermuda Hospitals Board thanks any patients, staff and visitors who have been impacted for their patience and cooperation”, she said.
