The World Health Organization (WHO) recently hosted the “Joint Inter-Ministerial Policy Dialogue on eHealth Standardization and Second WHO Forum on eHealth Standardization and Interoperability” on 10-11 February 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The forum’s objective was aimed at facilitating a dialogue on the need for policy and governance mechanisms that will enable countries to adopt health data standards.
Participants drafted a policy and governance framework for the adoption of standards at national and sub-national levels.
The first day of the event focused on key policy issues, the essentials of a good policy framework, and overcoming regulatory and administrative barriers regarding the adoption of standards and interoperability.
The second day, participants discussed evidence-informed policy components and statutory components, as well as governance and stewardship.
The event was be made available via audio conference, video conference, and webcasting.
