Bahamas Shark attacked Tourist to undergo further surgery

Lacy Webb-Martin and her husband flew to the Bahamas from Texas for a New Year getaway that almost ended in tragedy. That is because when the couple went snorkelling to explore the beautiful waters of the island, they had an almost deadly encounter with a 10 foot Tiger shark which inflicted brutal injuries about her body. Lacy’s husband Britt Martin, who saw the full extent of her injuries said when she got back on the boat, he noticed that the shark bitten off part of the right side of his wife’s body. Mr Martin lamented, “I was looking, and just a huge piece of her was missing, and so I grabbed a towel, I just started wrapping it around her, trying to stop the bleeding.”
The 34 year old woman had to be hurried off to the airport and was airlifted to Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. She was then admitted to Hollywood’s Memorial Regional Hospital after the attack, which took place in the water off Elbow Cay. The doctors had to perform at least two surgeries, one of which included the removal of a shark tooth from her body. She has to undergo three to five additional surgeries over the next few weeks before she can return to her Texan home.
The doctors said that while her prognosis was good, she will have some lasting physical damage.
