Public Hospital Board Bill comes into focus

The Public Hospital Board Bill will be at the centre of discussions during a special consultation between stakeholders today, Friday, June 21, 2013.

This is being organized by the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Family Affairs and Gender Relations and comes as part of an ongoing review of the Bill.

According to a press release, the legislation is being prepared to guide the operations of the New National Hospital which is expected to be operational in 2014 and the Healthcare Complex located in Coubaril.

The bill is being spearheaded by the health and legal affairs ministries.

“The consultation has been convened to review the Public Hospital Board Bill and to provide stakeholder-specific recommendations. Representatives of various government departments, health sector organizations, private sector bodies, and civil society organizations will meet with officials of the Ministries of Health and the Ministry of Legal Affairs to discuss the details of the proposed legislation,” the release said.

The gathering takes place at the Auditorium of the National Mental Wellness Centre.
