Barbadian doctor and wife charged with theft

Dr. Charles Alexander Grant , 50 and his wife Carole-Ann, 52, were recently arrested and charged for theft in Barbados of over $500 000 from the Sandy Crest Medical Centre in St. James.

The Grants’ both of Eagle’s Nest, Dairy Meadow, St. James, a plush neighbourhood, are both facing 18 counts of theft sometime between November 8th, 2008 and January 2010, They both appeared in the Magistrate’s Court for District A in Bridgetown Barbados on April 19th.

Grant and his wife are alleged to have stolen the half million dollars over a period of time. The couple was granted bail in the amount of $250 000 each and appeared before Magistrate Graveney Bannister. To escape the curious eyes on onlookers, they left the court via the rear exit. Grant held a piece of paper to obscure the view of onlookers while his wife and he walked to an awaiting vehicle.

Up until press time, they are represented by Pilgrim and Associates with Andrew Pilgrim as lead attorney.

They return to Court January 3rd and 4th, respectively in 2013.

Dr. Grant was the managing director of Sandy Crest Medical Centre, a private high tech emergency care facility located on the high-end West Coast of Barbados.  Dr. Grant also has a successful practice at Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church in the south-east of Barbados. Attempts to reach the Grants were futile.
