New PMH ambulances still have not arrived

After spending over $1 million on five new ambulances in March the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) is still relying on failing ambulances constantly in need of repairs.

PHA Medical Director Herbert Brown told The Guardian in March that the new ambulances would arrive in July. However, in a statement released yesterday, the PHA said the new ambulances won’t arrive for another few months.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director Dr.Alvery Hanna said Brown might have been mistaken on the arrival date. Hanna revealed on Wednesday that only two ambulances were operational after two had broken down that morning.

She said EMS need at least eight ambulances to properly service New Providence.
