St. Maarten asked to host Conference of Caribbean Nurses Organization

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – President of the St. Maarten Nurses Association, Candida McRae Williams recently headed a delegation of 12 nurses to Suriname, where they attended the 28th Biennial conference of the Caribbean Nurses Organization (CNO).

This year’s conference, which had in attendance Nurses coming from through the Caribbean region was held under the theme “Nursing and Midwifery responding to the Challenges of Globalization”.

During this year’s conference in Paramaribo, Nurse Cheryl Carty of St. Maarten was one of the speakers, who spoke of among other issues, teenage pregnancy.

Speaking to our news department, president of the St. Maarten Nurses Association, Nurse Candida McRae stated that they were quite pleased with the information presented during the conference in Suriname.

She also told our news department that St. Maarten has also been asked to host a conference in the coming years.

It is against this back drop that president of the St. Maarten Nurses Association stated that they are hoping to sit and discuss with the Minister of Health, to see when it would be possible for St. Maarten to host the meeting.
