Government appoints thirtythree (33) Registered Nurses

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA – The Grenada Government through the Ministry of Health, on Monday appointed thirty three (33) Registered Nurses (RN’s).

These nurses are expected to take up duties immediately at various government health facilities throughout the island, including the General, Princess Alice and Mt. Gay Hospitals, Richmond Home for the Aged and the Community Health Services.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Isaac Bhagwan today said the appointment of the nurses will address and alleviate issues relating to human resource challenges and increase service delivery at various health facilities throughout the island.

Bhagwan said, in 2012, budgetary provisions were made for twenty six (26) Registered Nurses. However on December 1, 2012, thirty one (31) Staff Nurses were appointed.

Meanwhile the newly appointed nurses who once received an EC $700.00 stipend from the T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC), has been placed in Grade E and as such will now be remunerated at EC $1,676.00 per month or EC $ 20,112.00 per annum along with subsistence allowance.
