In a brief gathering on Friday July, 9th, at the Ministry of Health Conference Room, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health of Belize and the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba.

The Cooperation Agreement was signed with the expectation that Cuba will continue to aid in the development of Belize’s health infrastructure through the provision of technical assistance, which includes the deployment of a medical brigade comprising medical personnel of various specializations whose primary role is for the delivery of health services in the public health system. The agreement also promotes the cordial and longstanding cooperation and understanding between both countries.

The health sector has benefited significantly over the years from the agreement which has been in existence since 1999. Currently, there are 94 medical personnel in the country on a two year tour of duty.
