The Belize Cancer Society of California works in Belize

The Belize Cancer Society of California, USA has once again visited Belize to make a much needed donation to the Cancer Society there.  Arlette Pilgrim, President of The Belize Cancer Society of California visited the town of San Pedro and made a donation on behalf of the US society to the San Pedro Cancer Society in Belize.

Pilgrim visited with members of the association where she had talks and also donated three pairs of prosthetic breasts, teaching materials, clothing, breast exam teaching kits to promote self-testing as well as other contributions to Miguel Perez, the President of the San Pedro Cancer Society.

Since 2012, Belize Cancer Society of California has wigs, mastectomy bras, two dozen prosthetic breasts, medical supplies and clothing to the women of Belize. IN addition, a respiratory machine was donated to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Polyclinic 11.

While the main focus of The Belize Cancer Society of California is to provide care and support to cancer patients in Belize, the Society made a charitable contribution to the Cancer Society of South Africa.

In June 2014, they donated amoena vests which are post-surgical undergarments which support the placement of prosthetic breasts along with five prosthetic breasts. The donation was made for women who had undergone a mastectomy.

While in Belize, the US Association’s other visits included visits to Pickstock and Albert St in Belize City where Pilgrim made house to house calls to teach women how to perform breast examinations to prevent and detect breast cancer as well as to distribute educational material.
