By Caribbean Medical News Staff
Former Assistant Police Commissioner Joseph Liburd and his family, had quite a scare after suffering a serious stroke on Good Friday. He fortunately survived the Cerebrovascular accident and is said to be in recovery.

According to reports, Lidburd was set to become the new Commissioner of police.

The latest report from his family is that he is now walking around after what was considered a major stroke. Liburd, who is 55 years old was initially treated at the Alexandra Hospital but was later transferred to the JNF Hospital for further treatment.

Liburd’s recent health challenge may have an adverse effect on the government’s search for a new Top Cop. He was favoured as the top choice for the Unity administration after former Commissioner CG Walwyn left the federation immediately after the change of government in February and then resigned.

The Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris said when a decision had been made as to who would lead the Police Force, the public would be properly informed. In the meantime, he said, Deputy Commissioner Stafford Liburd and the other members of the High Command have everything under control in the country.
